After a 4 month hiatus, I am posting again on disruptive apps as Aldelgado.com
At present I am blogging from Chiapas, Mexico waiting for my next year teaching assignment. Will it be Third Grade or Learning Technology or some variant?
Wiki news.
After moving from Instiki to Hierarki to third party hosting on stikipad, I am back to instiki. It will grow along with my tech blog Mediagenic at http://aldelgado.com
With its resurrection, some of the info is old. Hopefully, I will get this up to date, asap.

For Windows users, a service to get you a discount on shareware software. The offer is only good for one day. It is similar to MacZot for Macintosh users. Since I do not use Windows, leave a comment on their service. Hopefully, this business model will promote the work done by shareware programmers and small software development companies.
I will be moving my technology oriented postings over here and leave Educational Blogs.com to be more about Education and activism.
I am using the LightPress system with my WordPress 1.5 install. I hope to jump to version 2 of WordPress as soon as lightpress is able to make the jump as well. Then again, I here version 2 is becoming quite complex in the bad sense. I hope to get my feeds up correctly. Right now they are not parsing correctly.

Send an email or letter to your congressperson, Senators and Big Internet Providers. Voice your opinion against greed and arrogance.
Link: Take Action: Defend Net Freedom Now!.
Defend Net Freedom Now! What if AT&T blocked you from viewing your favorite podcasts and blogs? Verizon cut off your net phone because you weren't using their service? Comcast forced you to download MP3s from their store while slowing other music sites?
This threat is more real than you might think. Right now, the major communications companies are planning to discriminate against the online content and services that they don't yet control. Their executives want to boost profits by playing gatekeeper, giving preferential treatment to their own high-end services while blocking or slowing access to everyone else's.
If these media giants get their way, they'll shut down the free flow of information and dictate how you use the Internet forever. Tell the CEOs and Congress to Defend Net Freedom Now!
Dear reader,
Help keep the Internet free and open. Learn about the situation and hopefully you will sign the online petition. Click on link below.
Link: MoveOn.org Civic Action: Democracy in Action.
Do you buy books online, use Google, or download to an Ipod? These activities, plus MoveOn's online organizing ability, will be hurt if Congress passes a radical law that gives giant corporations more control over the Internet.
Internet providers like AT&T and Verizon are lobbying Congress hard to gut Network Neutrality, the Internet's First Amendment. Net Neutrality prevents AT&T from choosing which websites open most easily for you based on which site pays AT&T more. Amazon doesn't have to outbid Barnes & Noble for the right to work more properly on your computer.
If Net Neutrality is gutted, MoveOn either pays protection money to dominant Internet providers or risks that online activism tools don't work for members. Amazon and Google either pay protection money or risk that their websites process slowly on your computer. That why these high-tech pioneers are joining the fight to protect Network Neutrality[1]--and you can do your part today.
The free and open Internet is under seige--can you sign this petition letting your member of Congress know you support preserving Network Neutrality? Click here:
SolutionWatch puts out a large list of possible solutions for you if you take notes, etc. There were some I didn't know, and I follow quite a few web services on this site.
Link: Fifty Ways to Take Notes Solution Watch.
I am constantly writing notes. Whether it be for my blog, work, meeting, new ideas, or just basic notes, I am always jotting something down. So I started thinking about all the services I’ve used for taking notes and thought it would be a good idea to share them with you and while I’m at it, to make a list of any others that I find. Now, when it comes to note taking, I personally look for quick and simple. If I have something on my mind, I don’t want to go through some advanced system and climb a mountain just to save a note for myself. There won’t be all the note taking tools out there on my list, but ones that I feel get the job done well.

Here is a reblog feed I am working on using refeed.
The more sites will appear on the opml blogroll as I publish the posts. So there are a bunch not showing right now.
I have another just made from edblogging teachers. I experimented with a wordpress reblog plugin at http://aldelgado.com It is a wordpress blog but has a optimized lightpress template front end system.
So far I like the refeed version better. For me it is an online aggregator, similar to bloglines but faster. I can choose to publish all feeds here or just the ones I want to post. One can get rss, atom or opml syndication from this site.
It is a feed for all things dealing with some aspect of disruptive technology. Why edtechlab? We are experimenting using disruptive technology and we working in a new dimension.

Great article on the shameful '65-percent Solution" for public schools. Nora Carr dissects the "Sound Bite' campaign of the right wing. Spread the word: Campaign is a sham '65-percent solution' to school funding seeks to advance a partisan political agenda By Nora Carr, Columnist, eSchool News aThere's a well-financed effort underway in states around the country to pass legislation that would overhaul school funding. The so-called "65-percent solution" aims to have 65 cents of every school dollar spent directly in the classroom. But as many online news sites and education blogs have exposed, this "solution" is no more than a slick campaign to advance a partisan political agenda during an election year. In this article, eSchool News columnist Nora Carr offers school leaders some savvy advice on how to fight back.

If you use Apple's new iWeb web site building software, you may have felt shortchanged by the product. Mashable has posted a good article on a new podcasting service call Evoca. i agree with his analysis that Evoca is working on the KISS principle by making the process to make audio tracks simple and accessible to about most everybody. Below is the the intro from his post. Just visiting the site will make you want to sign up for at least a free account. The Pro account is only 5 dollars a month for 500 minutes of audio. I imagine, with some traction, the minutes may move higher. I think it is worth your while to check it out. I wonder if there will be access available in my school district. Everyday I turn around and find social network sites and online storage sites being blocked by our WAN internet filter.

Evoca - Podcasting for the Rest of Us?
I spent some time over the weekend playing around with Evoca, a newly-launched service that helps you record and share voice recordings. I’m fairly impressed. It goes without saying that Evoca includes tagging, groups and RSS feeds. You can also submit recordings by phone. But the appeal of the service lies in its accessibility. Unlike more geeky services, there’s little talk of podcasting - a phrase that’s sure to alienate a good part of your audience. From the site:

As I was working on my desktop version of instiki wiki, I was writing some short notes regarding desktop weblog editors this morning on the train to school. Every time I think about Userland's Radio, I remember a great desktop application that was way ahead of its time! Why Radio never took off... only the folks at Userland know. More and more pioneer bloggers have left Radio behind. Too bad!
Well... today I find Squib, is free software which is inspired by Radio. Old Radio Blogger, Matt Mower is at the helm. Cheers!
They are looking for designer help. Can someone give them a hand.

A good tutorial on tagging one's library of photos. I will share this wih our school reporters who are developing a large library of digital photos in iPhoto.

Most people I know don’t know that iPhoto can be tagged with keywords. Or if they do they don’t know how to use them. They’re not to blame, iPhoto has always had an awkward implementation of keywords. iPhoto 06 improves on keywords but they are still confusing to most users I know. So here’s a quick tutorial on setting up and managing keywords in iPhoto.
